LUCA FILASTRO




Luca Filastro, pianist and composer, born April 30, 1992 has received praise from major artists such as Lino Patruno and Rossano Sportiello. He discovered his musical calling when he was five years old after listening to Fats Waller, Jelly Roll Morton, Sidney Bechet and Louis Armstrong. He studied classical piano and got his diploma with honors when he was 19. The complexity of Filastro's playing is easily recognizable by his incredible sense of swing, blues and improvisation. His playing echos of the sounds of the great pianists like Fats Waller, Earl Hines, Art Tatum, Oscar Peterson, Nat King Cole and Bud Powell. His style is influenced by the careful study of great soloists such Coleman Hawkins, Lester Young, Charlie Parker, Dizzy Gillespie and Roy Eldridge. He performs in jazz clubs, theaters, dance hall and festivals around the world.
